About the artwork
Frederika Dalwood’s four-panel work The Garden of the Uncanny Valley presents new interdisciplinary works that explore the complexities of existing in a world we can never fully trust.
Comprised of four large format prints mounted behind acrylic glass, the images are developed from a synthesis of photography, 8mm video footage stills, digital manipulation and printed materials. The composition is meticulously arranged to create a landscape that references multiple time periods and geographical places. Presenting images behind acrylic glass subverts any visual associations to the natural world by using a structure that is clearly manmade and the reflective surface makes a connection to the screen and therefore digital media.

About the artist
Frederika Dalwood (b. 1996) is a London-based artist whose multimedia practice combines layered digital collages, video stills, and photography to explore the eeriness of both virtual and natural environments.
Her 2024 solo exhibition Actual Thing in Zurich revealed her ability to assemble landscapes that feel at once familiar and unsettling — where folklore and the digital collide. She holds a BA in Fine Art from the Edinburgh College of Art and an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (2022).
